How can we set up an interactive discussion platform?
Gemeente Rotterdam approached Webkracht with the request to develop an interactive custom-built application, an interactive platform, as a pilot project.
The goal of the platform is to measure and increase social participation in the city of Rotterdam. To this end, a number of individuals and groups will be invited to participate, allowing them to engage in discussions through various methods.
The result
Together with Gemeente Rotterdam, all functionality was designed, developed and built in phases. Various user groups have been invited, can log in to the extranet and then respond to statements and discussion boards. In addition, there is the option to participate in live chats.
The platform administrators can easily manage everything and thus guide chats and forum messages effectively.
Custom-built linked to a CMS
For the development of the custom-built applications, Exolog was used. With the CMS functionality, all users, logs, chats and discussion boards can be managed from the same system. In addition, Gemeente Rotterdam is assured of a robust, flexible and scalable platform with Exolog, allowing them to easily expand and scale in the future. Moreover, Gemeente Rotterdam’s communications department already has extensive Exolog knowledge and experience, as they have used multiple Exolog websites.
For hosting, a dedicated server was chosen in combination with a maintenance contract. With this, Gemeente Rotterdam has opted for reliability, speed, security and flexibility.
