Faster internet with the arrival of new WiFi routers
Good news for everyone who frequently uses WiFi networks. The foundation overseeing the development of the WiFi standard, the WiFi Alliance, has recently tightened the requirements for its certificate. This means that new WiFi routers must deliver significantly faster internet.
WiFi for more devices at once
One aspect of the new requirements is that WiFi routers must now be able to send data to multiple devices simultaneously. Currently, WiFi routers can only send data to one device at a time, even if multiple devices are connected to the router.
Possible doubling in speed
The new standard will change this. Devices seeking the WiFi certificate will then need to support MU-MIMO, a technique that enables routers to serve multiple devices at once, according to the WiFi Alliance.
Another improvement involves the number of channels routers must support. Particularly multi-channel 160 MHz instead of 80 MHz, which could theoretically double the speed. We can't wait!
