Dedicated server

What is shared web hosting?

Shared web hosting (shared hosting) is simply when one server hosts multiple websites. This is a common and efficient solution for website hosting. The server is then shared with other websites, which makes the hosting affordable. However, shared hosting often comes at the cost of performance.

Especially if you have a website with heavy applications, large storage needs, or high traffic, a dedicated server in the form of a VPS is a good solution.

What is a dedicated server (VPS)?

With a dedicated server (VPS), websites are hosted individually. VPS servers offer several advantages over shared hosting. These advantages are mainly loading speed and security.

That’s why they are ideal for heavier websites that demand a lot from a hosting server. If your organization has multiple websites and applications, they can also be hosted together on your own VPS.

Do I need a VPS?

Whether you need your own server isn’t something we can say for sure right away. In general, we advise customers who have high demands on the availability and speed of their website to opt for their own VPS. Or when there is a high need for peak load capacity or large storage, for example for video files.

Rented VPS cloud server

A VPS has the advantage of being a fully rented server in the cloud. This means that the maintenance of the server’s hardware is outsourced to specialists. Webkracht is responsible for the system management and maintenance of the server.

Are you considering a dedicated server for your website or application? Would you like to speak with a specialist about the advantages or disadvantages of shared hosting compared to your own VPS? Schedule a video meeting and we’d love to hear from you.
